Background

Twelve botanicals, nine countries, one curious adventure. That's the story behind every bottle of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin with Brazilian Pineapple — a spirit born from the same restless exploration that has defined PJ Rigney since he founded The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, in 2014. This time, the journey took Rigney to the vibrant, color-saturated landscapes of Brazil, where he discovered the abacaxi — the locally prized Brazilian pineapple, known for its refreshingly sweet and tangy character unlike any other variety. PJ saw immediately how this extraordinary ingredient could add a new dimension to Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, and he brought it back to The Shed. Slow-distilled by hand in medieval copper pot stills, the abacaxi is incorporated alongside the 8 pot still and 4 vapor-infused botanicals that underpin the classic Gunpowder expression — Chinese gunpowder tea, Irish meadowsweet, and exotic spices gathered across nine countries. The result is a gin that keeps its signature oriental depth while opening up to a bright, tropical warmth. Every bottle is hand-filled, labeled, and sealed at The Shed in Drumshanbo.

Aging

Eight botanicals — including Chinese gunpowder tea, juniper, and meadowsweet — are slow-distilled by hand in medieval copper pot stills at The Shed Distillery. The abacaxi (Brazilian Pineapple) is incorporated as one of four vapor-infused botanicals, preserving its refreshingly sweet and tangy tropical character. Bottled at 43% ABV; each bottle is hand-filled, labeled, and sealed by the distillery team in Drumshanbo.

Tasting Notes

Exotic Brazilian pineapple weaves through crystalline gunpowder tea and oriental botanicals. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing, with a smooth, well-balanced finish.

Don’t Sit Under the Pineapple Tree

Ingredients
  • 2 oz Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin with Brazilian Pineapple
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 0.75 oz orgeat almond syrup
  • Creole bitters
  • Garnish: mint leaves
Directions
  • Add all ingredients to shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
  • Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
  • Add four dashes of creole bitters and garnish.
