Background Principato, meaning Princely Realm or principality, refers to northeast Italys Tre Venezie, a region embracing the majesty of the snow-capped Dolomite Alps and the picturesque beauty of Italys romantic Lake District. For wine lovers, the Tre Venezie is also a source of Principato, one of Italys most popular and affordable wines. Introduced in 1978, it has become a welcome and familiar feature of daily American family dining.
Vinification Grapes are harvested by hand, starting with Pinot Grigio in the first few days of September and followed a week later by the Chardonnay. After a light pressing and fermentation, the two varieties are blended together and spend the next three months in stainless steel tanks maintained at a cool temperature to accentuate the floral-fruit characteristics of this wine.
Color Pale straw with light golden reflections.
Nose Typically floral notes of Pinot Grigio are joined by the fruit-filled fragrance and body of Chardonnay.
Palate Fresh fruit flavors blend harmoniously with an appealing, crisp acidity that lingers on the palate.
