Sauvignon Blanc

Founded in 2008 with the goal of becoming the most sustainable winery on the planet, Yealands achieved carbon neutral certification before its grand opening and maintains one of New Zealand's largest solar displays. From vineyards in Marlborough's Awatere and Wairau Valleys, Yealands crafts benchmark sauvignon blanc and pinot noir and their crown jewel, Seaview Vineyard, is one of the country's most coastal sites. Here, sea winds, mist, and diverse soils yield grapes with racy acidity and intense aromas. Winemaker Natalie Christensen, 2023 International Wine Challenge White Wine Winemaker of the Year, proves that sustainability and world-class wine go hand in hand. The 2025 release of their classic sauvignon blanc is textbook, delivering waves of zippy acidity and a mineral-driven finesse.

Carefully selected parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from Awatere and Wairau Valley vineyards were used to craft this wine. Vintage 2024 experienced a hot, dry summer and low rainfall. Several factors contributed to lower yields, with early spring frost, cooler temperatures during flowering, and prolonged dry conditions and water restrictions throughout summer and the harvest period. These unique conditions yielded wines of exceptional quality with highly concentrated flavor, purity and minerality.

The grapes were harvested in ideal condition, picking at the point of optimum flavor development. Parcels of grapes were picked and fermented separately, allowing us to enhance varietal character using carefully selected yeast strains. A long, cool fermentation took place to retain the purity of flavors. The wine was then blended, stabilized, and filtered before bottling.

Aromas of nectarine, grapefruit, and tropical fruit lead to a palate of tropical fruit, zippy citrusy acidity, and a mineral-driven finish.
