Background

Principato, meaning "Princely Realm" or principality, refers to northeast Italy's Tre Venezie, a region embracing the majesty of the snow-capped Dolomite Alps and the picturesque beauty of Italy's romantic Lake District. Principato is one of Italy's most popular and affordable wines. Introduced in 1978, it has since become a welcome and familiar feature of daily American family dining.

TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES

The Tre Venezie offers a combination of geography and climate well suited for producing high quality grapes.

Winemaking & Aging

Grapes are harvested by hand, starting with Pinot Grigio in the first few days of September and followed a week later by the Chardonnay. After a light pressing and fermentation, the two varieties are blended together and spend the next three months in stainless steel tanks maintained at a cool temperature to accentuate the floral-fruit characteristics of this wine.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw, with light golden reflections. Typical floral notes of pinot grigio are joined by the fruit-filled fragrance and body from the chardonnay. Fresh fruit flavors blend harmoniously with an appealing and crisp acidity that lingers on the palate.
