Background

Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte is France’s favorite Champagne, currently ranked as the No. 1 best-selling Champagne in France and the No. 3 best-selling Champagne in the world (IWSR 2024 on full-year 2023 data). Their origin story centers around Henri Macquart, pioneering founder of the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne, and Nicolas Feuillatte, a dynamic local businessman. Out of their shared passion for Champagne, a daring idea formed: create a new brand of excellence. An upstart that would knit together the tapestry of Champagne’s finest terroirs through an unrivaled network of heritage growers.

TERROIR & VINTAGE NOTES

A slow year to come to fruition, forged by late fruit ripening and culminating in a crescendo of aromas, 2008 yields extraordinary potential. This was the coldest year of the decade, yet also one of the most accomplished. Pristine grapes offered subtle, fresh aromas and exquisite fruit character, which has blossomed over time and reveals the extent of its transformation through the wines. This linear, well-balanced vintage has shaped wines for aging, built for the future; a vintage calling for patience and anticipation, distinguished and refined. Today the wines linger in the bloom of youth, delivering notes of dried flowers and the gentle touch of gossamer bubbles, while elegantly structured and linear on the palate.

Winemaking & Aging

A rare saignée rosé that ages in the cellars for nearly a decade. Crafted with 100% Pinot Noir from two cru vineyards; delicately spicy Grand Cru grapes from Bouzy allied with the intense fruit-laden quality of Les Riceys. Nicolas Feuillatte’s iconic cuvée, capturing its quintessential style, Palmes d’Or Rosé Intense is only revealed through the prism of the vintage when a truly exceptional harvest year enables its primary qualities to shine. A wine defined by time and capable of tremendous aging potential.

Tasting Notes

Intense, sensual, and heady with a delicate copper hue. Explosive on the palate with a pronounced dimension of fresh, lemon-tinged fruit. A thirst-quenching Champagne with great poise that is delicately spicy and feather light with precise structure owing to its Pinot Noir parentage. Delicate and distinguished length, offering notes of peony and great aromatic depth.

This is incredible with subtle cedar, creme brulee, crabapple, cedar and Chinese five spices, as well as dust. Full to medium body. Light tannins. Cedar and mahogany. Serious rosé that reminds me of great red Burgundy. Fantastic. Very dry. Fascinating. Unique. Drink now. -J.S.

James Suckling - July 2025

Points

Tightly meshed and harmonious, this pale, garnet-colored rosé Champagne shows density, with notes of steeped raspberry, dried mint, orange peel and iron slowly expanding on the plush, finely textured mousse. Fresh and focused, opening beautifully in the glass, this should pair nicely with food, even dishes incorporating poultry or light game. Drink now through 2028. 136 cases imported. -A.N.

Produced using the 'saignée' technique, this Champagne is derived from maceration on the skins rather than by the blending of red wine. It is 100% Pinot Noir. With cherry, peony, rose and spring flower aromas, the bouquet is vibrant, intense and well-defined. The palate is tense, with a vinous texture and an assertive depth. Very linear and chiselled, this is a pure and racy gastronomic Champagne. -Y.C.
