Background

"Brothers. Bootleggers. Legends. Nearly a century ago, Jacob and Abner Taub crafted and bootlegged their own whiskey during Prohibition to support their family. Then one fateful winter night in 1929, their world came crashing down during a sting that would land the brothers behind bars.Six long years later, Franklin D. Roosevelt pardoned the Taub brothers. They were able to reignite their family business with their brother Martin and help launch Baltimore Club Whiskey. This would set into motion a family tradition that would span generations. The brothers served their time, and now, youcan spend time enjoying Jacobs Pardon, a fine American whiskey that pays homage to their rebellious roots. Its complex, smooth, timeless, and frankly, a little liberating. It would be a crime not to enjoy it."

Tasting Notes

Sandy brown with pristine clarity. Intense sweet corn notes. Luscious notes of cinnamon bun, vanilla wafer, and candied walnut.

92
Points

Distilled above 80% ABV from 99% corn and aged in used barrels, this qualifies as light whiskey. Expressive nose of butterscotch, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut cream, candied pecan, and maple syrup on hot pancakes. Gripped by its proof from the first sip, you may find your mouth puckering from tannins and tingling with heat, but the sweet flavors of dark caramel, maple syrup, and candied nuts offer softening balance. Generous watering is highly recommended; you won’t miss a single flavor, but your tongue will recover more quickly from the high-octane ABV.
