The curious mind of PJ Rigney has taken him to some of the world's most extraordinary places — but even for a seasoned adventurer, the golden coast of California holds something special. On a trip north of San Francisco Bay, Rigney found himself drawn to the lush, sun-drenched citrus groves of California's celebrated growing region. The local people introduced him to the area's extraordinary orange citrus — abundant, vibrant, and bursting with a warmth that felt both foreign and familiar. Back at The Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim, Rigney understood immediately how this bright burst of Americana would transform the spirit he had spent years perfecting. The California Orange Citrus was incorporated into the distillation process alongside the eight pot still and four vapor-infused botanicals that define Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin — slow-distilled by hand in the distillery's medieval copper pot stills. The result is a vibrant, citrus-forward gin that carries the curiosity and warmth of California in every sip, while remaining anchored in the wild, unspoiled landscape of western Ireland.
