Lighter Sauvignon Blanc

Yealands wines are inspired by the coast that surrounds their property in New Zealand, so close to the ocean that the vines are often misted with sea spray. Yealands believes in sustainable winemaking and creating thoughtfully crafted wines that work in harmony with their landscape. Based in the Awatere Valley, the southernmost, coolest, and driest of Marlborough's growing regions, Yealands is one of only a handful of wineries around the world to be certified as carbon neutral and the first ever to be certified from inception. Yealands' sustainable Seaview Vineyard is one of the most coastal vineyards in New Zealand; its proximity to the coastline provides distinctive mineral characteristics.

Carefully selected parcels of Sauvignon Blanc from our Awatere and Wairau Valley vineyards were used to craft this wine. The vines were carefully managed to reach the ideal balance and flavor concentration at lower sugar levels, producing a lighter alcohol wine. At the winery, the fruit was gently pressed, and the juice was cold-settled for 72 hours. The clear juice was racked off solids followed by a long cool fermentation in stainless steel to capture and enhance the fruit flavors. Each of the individual parcels were fermented separately using a range of selected yeasts to enhance varietal characters. The wine was then blended, stabilized, and filtered in preparation for bottling.

Pale lemon. Notes of freshly picked snow peas, blackcurrant leaf, and green passionfruit underpinned with aromas of fresh citrus and tropical fruits. The palate is lively and herbaceous with flowering herbs, lemongrass, kaffir lime, and green kiwifruit. Well balanced with a fresh zesty finish.
