Background

Gran Duque d'Alba Solera Gran Reserva is produced at the Williams & Humbert Bodega, in Jerez. The brand was first launched in 1945 and named for the Grand Duke of Alba, Fernando lvarez de Toledo y Pimentel. It is one of the most famous & highly rated brandies from this historic region. It is aged for over 12 years in the Solera system in Sherry-infused Oak casks, and has complex aromas of oak, prune and sherry with hints of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and orange. Best served at room temperature and makes for an excellent end to an enjoyable meal.

This Brandy de Jerez has a deep brown hue and maple aroma edged with espresso andplum. On the palate, plum leads, followed by fudgy mocha and a sticky-sweet hint of dark chocolatecovered dried cherry, braced up with flickers of maple and cinnamon heat. Overall, the effect is rich, bold and dessert like.

Ingredients
  • 1.75 oz Gran Duque d’Alba Solera Gran Reserva
  • 0.5 oz Bauchant Orange Liqueur
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 oz Simple Syrup
Directions
  • Rim a coupe glass with a lemon wedge.
  • Dip in sugar and set aside (optional).
  • Add all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously.
  • Double strain into the coupe glass.
  • Garnish with an orange peel.
