Spice- and floral-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a peppery nuance gaining power with aeration. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering supple black and blue fruit flavors that pick up a smoky quality in the glass. Notes of vanilla and cracked pepper linger on a long, gently tannic finish.

The aromas are simply gorgeous even before the wine has attained an age at which it could offer up tertiary scents--which is a testament to how good the fruit material was, and how judiciously it was oaked during the wine?s elevage. Lifted scents of violets and both red and black fruits are totally alluring, and the delicate flavors follow suit. Beautifully light and fresh for a wine from the (sometimes chunky) 2011 vintage, this just radiates elegance and class. winereviewonline.com - March 2015 Spice- and floral-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a peppery nuance gaining power with aeration. A strong singed cedar and vanilla frame holds the core of cherry paste and plum sauce in check for now, with hints of dried anise and juniper emerging on the finish. A touch stolid in feel.

This lets a solid beam of cassis and plum sauce flavors lead the way, backed by slightly taut, leathery grip and a backdrop of roasted alder and chestnut notes. Just cellar a touch to loosen the grip of the toast. Best from 2017 through 2023.

Full-bodied and richly textured, this isn't a prototypically delicate Cote Rotie, but it's still very enjoyable. Clove and black olive notes are backed by plummy fruit, capped off by a long, dusty finish. Drink now-2025.
