McGuigan Wines are innovative and of high quality; varietally true with a distinct sense of place. Since 1880, four generations have built the McGuigan name to be synonymous with Australian winemaking. With roots in the Hunter Valley, McGuigan sources grapes from top quality vineyards all over South East Australia, including McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, and Barossa Valley.
This multi-regional sourcing results in the best possible wine, allowing winemakers access to fruit from a broad spectrum of vineyards and an enviable level of control over the style, quality and value of the wine. By using the highest quality grapes from premium terroirs, McGuigan has the ability to make all viticultural decisions based solely on producing the best quality wines.
The man with the plan is Neil McGuigan, chief winemaker and CEO. Neil is one of Australia’s most recognized and awarded winemakers. With over 30 years’ experience, Neil is considered a “maverick” of Australian wine who respects but works outside of the bounds of tradition. He is passionate in crafting quality, innovative and varietally true wines to consumers all over the world.
McGuigan is the only winery to be named International Winemaker of the Year a record four times by the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London.
With his extensive experience and insight into the wine industry, Neil is an acclaimed winemaker and respected wine judge at national and international wine competitions. Under his leadership, McGuigan is the only winery to be named International Winemaker of the Year by the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition in London a record four times.
