BackgroundLa Ferme du Mont from France's Southern Rhone, is a creation from famed winemaker Stephane Vedeau, who is passionate about the Grenache grape. A third generation winemaker, Stephane has a unique style that is described as 'Burgundian' and produces wines that are light, delicate and fresh compared to others from the region. Grapes for La Ferme du Mont are farmed from 66 acres of vineyards across five appellations, nearly 70% of which is from Cotes du Rhone & Cotes du Rhone Villages. The unique terroir from a selection of vineyards sees a combination of soils, sunlight exposure and wind to produce wines with great complexity.
VinificationGrapes are hand-harvested from sand and pebble soils in Châteauneuf du Pape, the most famous of the Southern Rhône crus. The grapes are then de-stemmed and put into tank for aqueous extraction. Fermentation lasts 3-5 weeks. After pneumatic pressing, a blending of free run juice and press wine occurs. Maturation is for 12 months, a small part in oak barrel (10%) and the balance is matured in tank.

PalateThe soil’s power is expressed by brandy cherry, laurel leaves, paprika and nutmeg notes. Fine tannins in the mouth with notes of fresh red fruits. Black licorice and cocoa complete the aromas of the raspberry and crystalized blackberry.
