Italo Zingarelli, a highly-acclaimed Italian film producer best known for his classic spaghetti westerns, purchased the Rocca delle Macìe estate in Castellina in Chianti in 1973 and embarked on a career as one of Chianti Classico's more unlikely wine producers. In 1989, Sergio, Italo's youngest son, with wife Daniela at his side, was appointed company President. Rocca delle Macìe now encompasses more than 600 hectares in total, across the company's six estates, with 200 hectares under vine and 80 hectares of olive groves. Thanks to the Zingarelli family's dedication and passion, Rocca delle Macìe has become one of Tuscany's leading wine estates.
