Since inception the vision of Bodegas Salentein has been to craft world-class Argentine wines, with a commitment to living in harmony with the community and environment of the Uco Valley. This focus on high-quality & sustainable winegrowing practices propelled Portillo to become the first Argentine wine brand to obtain a certification given by The Carbon Trust, an international leader in carbon reduction. ISO 14001: 2004 (Environmental Management System) certified since December 2011.

Initiatives include:
- Avoidance of pesticides and herbicides.
- The management of vegetation through sustainable viticulture.
- Usage of native flora as cover crops.
- Returning all organic waste matter to the land as compost to be used as natural fertilizers.
Carbon Footprint Management

Initiatives include:
- Constant measurement and management of carbon and water footprint.
- Generating composts according to soil needs.
Conservation Projects

Initiatives include:
- Maximum water conservation through drip irrigation.
- The reduction of energy consumption through efficient planning and education.
