In 1994 it made a spectacular debut, when it won thely contested category of Italian Reds for the Future at the 10th Annual Wine Challenge hosted by Wine, a top U.K. wine publication; rivals included Tuscany’s Sassicaia. Successive vintages have gone on to earn an extraordinary collection of no less than five Tre Bicchiere designations from Gambero Rosso, Italy’s most influential wine magazine.
One of Italy’s most impressive and progressive wine estates, this impeccably maintained 1,600-acre property in Sardinia is credited around the world with placing Sardinian wines on the international wine-lover’s map. The estate includes the second largest contiguous vineyard in Italy.
Production Area
From the Marchese di Villamarine single vineyard on the Sella & Mosca estate. Vines were initially planted in this vineyard in the late 1950s. Replanting is being conducted in gradual stages, so as to maintain the overall longevity of these vines.

Vinification
After harvest and fermentation, the wine is matured 18 months in small French oak casks, followed by a further12 months in large oak barrels. After bottling, it is aged an additional 18 months prior to release.
