For those in search of extraordinary Bordeaux, exceptional French cuisine, and the modern-day comforts of a de luxe hotel, Château Cordeillan-Bages in the northern Medoc is a destination beyond compare. At this jewel of a wine estate in Bordeaux’s Pauillac appellation, the sophisticated traveler can relish a taste of the finest that world-class French wines, gastronomy and hospitality have to offer.

In addition to producing an internationally acclaimed Cru Bourgeois from a 41/2-acre vineyard attached to the property, Château Cordeillan-Bages boasts a splendid Relais & Châteaux hotel, complete with a Michelin 2-star restaurant led by Chef Thierry Marx, whose innovative menus are the talk of culinary circles in France and beyond.

Cordeillan-Bages, embracing the present-day vineyard, an elegantly proportioned manor house and cellars, dates back to the 1700s. By the late 1800s the wines of this Cru Bourgeois had started to command prices to rival those of some of its better-known neighbors -- Pauillac’s celebrated Crus Classés.

The estate’s present-day success is of a more recent vintage, however, beginning with the acquisition of the Cordeillan-Bages vineyard in the 1930s by the Cazes family, the dynamic owners of the nearby world-famous 5th growth, Château Lynch-Bages. In 1985 family patriarch Jean-Michel Cazes was able to buy the Cordeillan-Bages château. With his sister, Sylvie Cazes-Regimbeau, he then et about transforming the manor house into what is now the Bordeaux wine region’s most prestigious hotel.

Today, guests at Cordeillan-Bages can enjoy all the amenities and comforts of a stylish, modern luxury hotel, including a spa, pool, fitness center and sauna. Or they can simply relax on the terrace with a glass of Château Cordeillan-Bages, taking in the view of the very vineyard from which the wine originated.

Thanks to the dedication of the Cazes family, Château Cordeillan-Bages has earned an international following among Bordeaux collectors and connoisseurs. And while it graces the tables of some of the world’s most elite restaurants, no one would argue that little rivals the singular sensation of enjoying this powerful, full-bodied, richly concentrated red in the incomparable setting of its home at Cordeillan-Bages.
