One of Italy’s most visible, charismatic and successful entrepreneurs, Giancarlo Aneri is a public relations genius with clients that include Italy’s Juventus soccer team. Aneri is also the mastermind behind Aneri Prosecco, an elegant sparkling wine from northeast Italy’s Veneto region that has become a mainstay of wine lists at many of the world’s finest Italian restaurants.

Giancarlo’s career in the wine business started early, at the age of 19, when he joined a leading winery in northeast Italy’s Veneto region, in a sales capacity. Some years later word of his sales and marketing expertise reached the ears of Trentino-based Ferrari, a family-owned winery widely considered to be Italy’s premier producer of world-class sparkling wines. At Ferrari, Aneri played an instrumental role in the development and launch of Surgiva, an immensely successful brand of bottled mineral water. Aneri remains involved in Surgiva mineral water, both as managing director and a shareholder.

Word of Aneri’s business acumen and boundless energy continued to spread. In 1993 he joined forces with Italy’s Benneton family and the Agnelli family of Fiat fame to establish the é group, a joint venture specializing in production and marketing of gourmet Italian food products, from a best-selling extra virgin olive oil to roasted coffee.

Aneri wines, headquartered in Giancarlo Aneri’s native Veneto region, was founded in 1994, originally as a joint venture with famed Anglo-Italian hotelier Sir Rocco Forte, and Cellars Valdobbiadene, representing key local growers in Veneto.

Aneri Prosecco enjoys widespread recognition and success, and has won numerous medals and awards. A staple at many of Italy’s most important events, whether a celebration of sporting success or at state dinners hosted by the Italian government, Aneri Prosecco like the man behind it is always a popular and sought-after guest.
