If you ask a wine lover to name Spain’s best region for white wine, chances are the reply will be an enthusiastic “Rías Baixas, of course!”

Northwest Spain’s Rías Baixas (ree’-yahs bye’-shass) appellation in Galicia has made a dramatic entrance onto the global wine stage in recent years as the premier source of the country’s most alluring and refreshingly vibrant white wines. This distinctive region – with its cool, damp maritime climate and lush green vegetation – is unlike any other part of Spain, and has proven to be an ideal environment for the cultivation of premium quality Albariño (ahl-bah-reen yoh) grapes.

Production Area
The vineyards are situated in the “Condado do Tea” subzone, on the northern slopes of the river Miño. The granite soil has good drainage and little potassium. A pergola trellis system is used to protect the grapes from humidity and fungal diseases.

Grape Varieties
100% Albariño

Vinification
All grapes are hand-harvested. They are brought to the winery and fermented for 20 days under controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is sent through a tangential filter, a very delicate membrane filter that eliminates impurities. The wine rests in bottle for a brief period before release.

Color
Pale lemon with green reflections.

Bouquet
Fragrant aroma of fresh apples, citrus and tropical fruit, together with floral notes.

Taste
Full-bodied and opulent with delightful flavors of apricot, pear and honeysuckle.

Alcohol
12.5%

Serving Suggestions
Outstanding partner for shellfish and seafood, pasta in creamy sauces and roast chicken.
