Roscato is an irresistible, delicately sweet, gently fizzy red wine from the northern Italian region of Lombardy. Each of these unique indigenous northern Italian grape varieties contributes its own special character to the wine. Croatina lends beautiful floral and fruity aromatics, while Teroldego creates much of the structure and deep color in the wine. Lagrein imparts a lush texture to the palate.
Each variety is harvested and vinified separately, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. Following de-stemming, the juice is kept on the skins for several days at low temperatures to extract the fruit’s aromas and color. When the wine reaches 5% ABV, fermentation is halted by refrigeration and the wine is blended. A natural second fermentation in tank creates a delicate “frizzante” (sparkle) in the wine. The second fermentation is halted when the wine reaches 7% ABV maintaining an ideal touch of natural residual sugar.
