Located in Israel’s Hefer Valley, the Recanati Winery is a showcase winemaking facility, equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Owned by Lenny Recanati, a native of Israel with ancestral roots stretching back to Italy, the winery is the fruit of Lenny’s life-long dream to produce truly world-class wines. Chief winemaker is Gil Shatsberg, a graduate of the U.C. Davis wine program. Formerly a winemaker at Israel’s Amphorae and Carmel wineries, Gil brings to Recanati proven expertise in his field, allied to a devotion to artistry and craftsmanship in winemaking.

Recanati wines are certified kosher .

Production Area
Select high-altitude Menara vineyard in Israel’s Upper Galilee, 2,500 feet above sea level, is the source of this singular Reserve Merlot.

Grape Varieties
85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon

Vinification
After careful hand harvesting, the grapes are de-stemmed and left to soak for two days to fully extract their fruity, spicy character. A small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is included to enhance depth and complexity. After a fermentation period of two weeks, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels where it matures for 18 months.

Color
Deep purple.

Bouquet
Complex aromas of red berries, cassis and roses, underscored by hints of white pepper, cloves and green olives.

Taste
Elegant, full-bodied and supple, with spicy aromas carrying through on the palate to combine with flavors of ripe red berries.

Serving Suggestions
An outstanding accompaniment to grilled red meats, poultry, risottos and mushroom-based dishes. Serve slightly cooler than room temperature.
