DescriptionHailed as the winemaking wizard of the Rhone, Jean-Luc Colombo has achieved a high-profile international reputation for making innovative wines that are original, memorable and bursting with personality. Despite a resolute aversion to change in the Cornas region, Colombo has brazenly introduced innovative methods in his vineyards and throughout the production process based on a respect for nature and his fundamental belief that good wine is the culmination of three key elements: terroir, human endeavor and modern winemaking techniques. Colombo has turned to his roots and the vineyards of the blue coast near Marseille for the inspiration behind La Dame du Rouet Rosé. The Blue Coast, just west of Marseille, is an exceptional isthmus of land full of small streams and rocky coves. Le Rouet, a picturesque cove in the area, is named for a church that sits atop a hill on the blue coast.
VinificationTraditional “saignée” method is used. Harvested with minimal intervention, no destemming and immediate fermentation at a very cool temperature of 61° F for 10 days. No malolactic fermentation to keep freshness & acidity. Refined in stainless steel tanks for 5 months at low temperatures. Minimal fining and tangential filtration.
