DescriptionThe Hazlitt family has been farming on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake in New York for over 160 years where, in 1852, David Hazlitt bought 153 acres of fruit trees and vineyards. In 1985, four generations later, Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt converted the family farm into Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards and continued the family tradition of sustainable farming and producing quality products. Today, siblings and co-owners Doug Hazlitt and Leigh Hazlitt Triner, together with their spouses Cheryl and Greg, respectively, represent the 6th generation of the Hazlitt family involved in viticulture in this classic region. The Hazlitts operate two tastings rooms in the Finger Lakes and employ a team of over 100 people. Together, they welcome more than 80,000 visitors each year. Hazlitt is best known for its popular Red Cat family of wines, which are made from native New York grape varieties Catawba and Niagara and include Red Cat, White Cat, Bramble Berry and Cabin Fever. Red Cat continues to enjoy top-selling status among New York State wines. Award-winning wines also include international varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewrztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and Cabernet Franc.
