In his search for nature's purest vodka, PJ Rigney's curiosity took him through wildest Africa, across the Serengeti and south past the equator, where he encountered the Kigelia africana — the majestic 'Sausage Tree.' Known for centuries for its curative and purifying properties, this extraordinary plant produces large, sausage-shaped fruit revered by local communities across sub-Saharan Africa. Returning to The Shed Distillery, Rigney combined the Sausage Tree fruit with another purifying force: wild Irish nettle from the untamed woodlands of Drumshanbo itself. Together, they are distilled with Irish grain in medieval copper pot stills, yielding a vodka of extraordinary purity. The spirit's name nods to the Honey Badger — one of nature's toughest creatures, found in the bark of the Sausage Tree — a symbol of PJ Rigney's enduring mantra: nature has no place for the weak.
