DescriptionIn 1902, Giulio Ferrari realized his dream of creating an Italian sparkling wine to rival the very finest French Champagne. After his studies in France, Ferrari returned to Trentino, Italy and planted Chardonnay, which had never been done before. Ferrari was convinced that through the combination of the Trentino terroir, the innovative use of Chardonnay and the use of the traditional production method, metodo classic, he could make world-class sparkling wines. By 1906, the awards began pouring in, and Ferrari was producing what is now the most famous sparkling wine in Italy. In 1952, Giulio Ferrari, not having any children, chose Bruno Lunelli, a friend and local merchant as successor of his beloved business. Today, the third generation of the Lunelli family remains passionately committed, guiding the family business with a healthy respect for the past and a clear road map for the future. This Pinot Noir, selected from the best vineyards owned by the Lunelli family, reveals the extraordinary qualities of Trentino's high altitude terroir.
VinificationFerrari Perlé Nero is made using the traditional metodo classico. After a hand-harvest in the middle of September, the wine undergoes a gentle pressing.
